Leonard John Harper BA, Mec, FCILT, FCPA len.harper@ciltinternational.org Len Harper became President of CILT-International in June 2009. It currently has a presence in 29 countries and more than 30000 members. Len Harper has served a lifetime in the transport and logistics industry achieving senior management status in a number of key industry groups around Australia. Len Harper was the Freight Research and Development Manager at State Rail in the late 70s before taking on the responsibilities of Passenger Development Manager of State Rail in the period 1980 to 1983. In 1983 Len took up the position of General Manager, Passenger Services of the Victorians State Transport Authority. From 1990 to 1993 Len was the Chief Executive of Brisbane Transport, before returning to NSW to take up as Chief Executive of State Transit between 1993 and 1995. In the period 1995 to 1997 Len Harper was Chief Executive of State Rail. In the period 1997 to 1999 Len Harper was the Managing Director of Kilpatrick Green Facility Management. Len Harper is currently the Executive Director of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Australia and for the period 2004 to 2008 was the Chairman of the Management Board of CILT International. On 6th May 2009 Len was confirmed as the International President of CILT for the next two years. Len Harper has the objective to develop a higher level of participation amongst the CILT International family focusing on professional development. Len’s primary thesis is that better people make for better business. Len has a Bachelors Degree majoring in accounting and economics, and a Masters Degree in Economics. He is a Chartered Fellow of CILTA, a Fellow of the Certified Practising Accountants, and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Immediate Past International PresidentRichard J Hunt CBE FCILT richard.hunt@ciltinternational.org Richard was Chief Executive of OmPrompt Ltd a new business in the supply chain technology sector. He is also involved in executive coaching and mentoring, is presently acting as an independent expert witness on supply chain strategy and is a non-executive Director of Business Direct Plc. Previously Richard was Chief Executive of the Aviation Division of Go Ahead Plc providing ground handling logistics services at 17 UK airports. Earlier he also worked in aviation with the oil industry both in the UK, running Aviation Fuel Services at Heathrow at a time of major industrial unrest, and then internationally based in Paris. At the start of his career he qualified as a British Airways pilot and won the Principal's Prize for his intake before deciding to give up flying for management. For the past twenty years he has specialised in logistics in both own account operations and the service provider sector. He was joint Chief Executive of Exel Europe before its recent mergers and other Director level roles have been with Grand Met Brewing, Courage and Brown and Tawse Plc. In the public sector he served for 5 years as a non-executive on the Highways Agency Advisory Board, is a Colonel in the Engineer and Logistics Staff Corps RE(V) and currently Chairman of its Logistics Liaison Group. Richard has been actively involved in the Institute for over 17 years and was the first Chairman of CILT (UK) in 2000 during the major period of change and then UK President from 2002-4. In the 2004 New Year Honours list, Richard Hunt was appointed CBE for services to ‘logistics and transport'. |
