Education and Endowment Fund The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport offers several grants, awards and scholarships to its members from its Education and Endowment Fund. The overall objective of the fund is - "To advance education in the field of transport and logistics by the provision of scholarships and prizes, lectures, libraries, and such other educational facilities and activities as shall be considered appropriate by the trustees".
Within the CILT Education and Endowment Fund, a series of awards, grants, and scholarships are available. Meritorious Papers Awards are available to all members of CILT worldwide. Four awards of up to £250.00 each will be made at the discretion of the trustees in the areas of:
Awards are available to CILT National Councils and Sections in the form of a grant up to the sum indicated, to support the costs of a lecture of international standing and contribution.
Awards are available to all members of CILT worldwide in the form of a grant to support study and/or research, funding of books, travel, and subsistence. The Henry Spurrier Scholarships are intended to encourage research by contributing to expenses incurred in travelling and subsistence, obtaining research material, mounting a research programme, etc. The awards are NOT intended to be used for tuition fees but may be used to support the necessary research for the completion of a dissertation for a higher degree. It is expected that a copy of the research report/dissertation will be sent to the Institute to be placed in the Library.
Who can apply? CILT awards, grants, and scholarships are designed to encourage research into logistics and transport developments and needs in different parts of the world. Any CILT member (including Student Affiliate) may apply for an award, either directly or through a National Council, Section, or Branch. How may applications be made? Applications and Nominations from countries where there is a local CILT office must be made to that office, which will forward them to the address below. Application / Nomination forms can be obtained from the address below, to which they must be returned to arrive not later than the closing date of 28th February each year. Decisions on the allocation of the scholarships and awards will be published in May of that year. Meritorious papers Acceptable papers will be no less than 2500 words and will have been published or presented in a public arena. Nominations MUST be made only via CILT National Councils, Sections or Branches. Lectures Available to CILT National Councils, and Sections, applications to host an approved lecture must be made in good time with an outline of the subject, probable speaker with brief CV, and the reason why the support of the Education and Endowment Fund would be helpful. The Fund is not intended to be the only source of income but to assist in supporting a lecture of international standing and contribution. Scholarships Applications for scholarships should have a full explanation of the objectives, timescale and outline plan, for which the award is being sought as well as an appropriate CV of the applicant. Applications should be made with the full support of the relevant CILT National Council, Section, or Branch.
